I just spent the better part of two hours on the phone with my mom talking about a novel I have been trying to write for over 10 years. I have only shared bits and pieces with people along the way but until today had never had an in depth conversation about it. I have always felt stuck and unsure of the purpose of this story, which has made it hard to finish. My mom is an avid reader and loves crime and mystery novels. I just so happen to be writing something along those lines but never thought to ask the one person that knows that genre the best! Silly me. We had an amazing conversation about the novel and I figured out a lot of what I need to get back to writing the story and actually finish it!
A lot of the time I feel like I don’t have a new story in me because this story isn’t finished and it’s holding me back from other stories. Brains are weird like that. I need to finish this story and my mom thinking the story is interesting has been a great motivation in getting back to it. Thank you so much, Mom! You are incredible and I love you so much!
